I always wanted a slamming screen door like we had when I was little. In and out, in and out, until Mama shouted or more likely Daddy,”Either in or out!”
The screen door was a great way to prevent critters from getting in the house, especially that one annoying mosquito that would hum in your ear in the night. We installed one a few years ago, but dogs’ pawing it and the poor quality of materials soon turned it into a sagging mess. My friend had a magnetic screen door with two active dogs going in and out, in and out. Amazingly, the screen held up. So I bought one. My husband and I were able to install it ourselves without talk of divorce and our two large dogs quickly learned to operate it.
I only miss the sound. That slam. And then I remember my friend’s mama yelling at us, “Slam-it, dammit!” as we ran to catch lightning bugs or to play freeze tag. But give this one a try. I think you will be surprised>
